Senior Banking Officer

The Role:
Reporting to the Transactional Accounting Manager, the Senior Banking Officer is an integral part of the National Storage Finance Transactional team. Based in our corporate head office, this role overs a great opportunity to work in a fast-moving, dynamic, ASX environment, playing a key part in our successes as our business continues to expand.
This role holds responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of all bank reconciliations for National Storage’s transactional banking accounts. This includes completing ledger and statement loads into our reconciliation software, performing auto reconciliation processes, and manually matching and investigating any unreconciled items and discrepancies.
The role includes reconciling credit card, direct debit, and AMEX daily settlements from over 270+ locations in both Australia and New Zealand, and allocating bpay receipt, direct credits and other ad hoc transaction. This role also acts as the main point of contact for all banking and receipting related queries for the business.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations on multiple bank accounts across our Australian and New Zealand locations.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies such as missing transactions, imputation errors, or other system related issues.
- Ability to investigate and apply unallocated transactions in a timely manner, working closely with other stakeholders within the finance team.
- Daily upload of ledger transactions into TechOne for all transactional bank accounts managed by National Storage.
- Match off daily transactions and investigate matching discrepancies promptly.
- Lead the process of clearing reconciling bank items in a timely manner, working closely with other members.

About You:
- Specialist experience in performing bank reconciliations in a large corporate business with multiple sources of customer receipts, including the maintenance of auto reconciliation functions.
- Strong understanding of the accounting principles behind the bank reconciliation processes, and wider financial reporting impacts.
- Highly proficient in Excel and other systems. Experience of handling large volumes of transaction data and running other data driven tasks such as reconciliation uploads and macros.
- Experience in enacting improvements / elements of automation to manual financial processes.
- Strong problem-solving mindset including being comfortable in challenging discrepancies.
